Hurricane Ignacio and Tropical Storm Jimena tracking towards Hawaii

5 a.m. HST Thursday (Aug 27) Hawaii County Civil Defense message on Hurricane Ignacio
As of 11 a.m. HST Thursday (Aug 27) the center of Hurricane Ignacio was located about 1,055 miles (1,700 km) east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained winds are about 90 mph (150 km/hr) with higher gusts moving west at 13 mph (20 km/hr). Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center.
Ignacio is forecast to strengthen to a major hurricane on Friday. Behind Ignacio is Tropical Storm Jimena in the Eastern Pacific. Jimena is forecast to develop into a major hurricane in the next two days.
